Work for Equity allows us to provide credit for work that you do on one or more of our houses. Four Steps Home can apply this credit toward your rent or down payment. The amount of credit you receive depends on the work you do.
When you complete the job to spec, we credit you!
We Welcome All Handymen (and -Women!)
You don’t have to be a master bricklayer to earn credit with us. You can earn it with minor jobs like painting, changing locks, or landscaping. Of course, major work like sheet-rock, plumbing, or electrical earns you even more.
Furthermore, the work doesn’t just have to be on the home in which you are living. We can even give you credit for working on other homes in our inventory.
We set up the job specifications and agree on the amount of credit before you start the job. Once you complete the job to those specifications, you receive the credit.
More work means more credit!
You can use this credit in one of two ways:
Work for Equity toward a Down Payment
Let’s face it, saving up for a down payment is tough these days. Imagine if you could use your skills plus those of family and friends to help you do just that.
It would be just like a barn-raising in the old days! Everyone pitches in for a day, gets the job done, and you earn credit toward your down payment.
Work For Equity toward a Monthly Payment
Whether you’re mowing the lawn or plumbing a sink, you’re earning credit with Four Steps Home. We understand that some months are leaner than others. Why not use the credit you’ve built with us to help you through a tough time?
Four Steps Home can apply the credit you’ve built to a rental payment during a month in which you may be struggling. That’s right: the room you paint could be the key to making rent. Just give us a call; we’ll work with you!
We Think Win-Win
Four Steps Home is going to spend the money to fix the house up anyway, so why not give it to you as equity in exchange for the work? This is how we help people who truly want to own a home.
Our program is different than anything you’ve seen before.
